COMMENTS ABOUT
"Getting to Know..." interviews

Gene Gee was an absolute delight to work with. His personal yet professionalism at every step made the interview such an enjoyable process. Gene has the superb talent and gift of conducting an interview, yet at the same time one never feels like one is being "interviewed".  Amazingly enough, he has the freedom to allow the "chat" to be what it is meant to be...with the foresight and insight to uncover the depths of the subject matter. I am so pleased with the end product and can't wait for people to listen and thus be "Getting To Know..." me.

WHO IS GENE GEE?
~ Background Narrative

Connecting the right people with the right people at the right time is ultimately the driving motivation behind Gene's creative and business efforts.  His experience and knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of all the major media (television - broadcast & cable/satellite; radio - local & national; internet; print; signage; mailing) serve his clients well and has confirmed his belief in the layering of the media for optimal successes.

With the majority of his experience in radio, he brings 20+ years of ‘hands on’ skills from both 'for-profit' and 'non-profit (non-commercial)' operations.
Gene has worked successfully in multiple on-air roles as well as sales and management positions.  His background ranges from small ‘Mom & Pop’ stations in rural settings to nationwide networks, and has been interviewed twice for international broadcasts airing in Israel, Great Britain, Ireland, Australia and Canada.

After completing his studies in classical music as a vocalist, Gene continued his education focusing on philosophy and business.
This combination causes some people to raise an eyebrow, but Gene explains it this way:

“A basic maxim of philosophy says ‘The question is at least as important as the answer.’ This is also very true of the approach we need to take with business and marketing.”

He is not lacking in understanding the business side of the equation, with not only a natural acumen in understanding business principles and practices, but also with work experience with Dun & Bradstreet as a business analyst, ad agencies in the south, west and mid-west, and as an active member on community service organization and hospital boards.

Gene knows that
no matter how worthy the cause, if it isn’t funded well, it cannot reach its full potential.  It is this attitude that can be seen among his many successful campaigns, including the highly successful ‘Hunger to Hope’ annual national radio campaign that raised monies for rescue missions across the US, which Gene was one of the founding architects.   He also was a founding member and first President of the Board for the internationally recognized ‘Icebox Radio Theater’.

His passion though is working for those whose voices and stories need to be heard.
Gene’s personal moniker is “Let No Injustice Go Unchallenged” and thus he has volunteered his time and efforts to such causes as animal rights, anti-sexual abuse campaigns, polio eradication, slavery issues, international women’s rights, and victims’ advocacy to name a few.

When asked about his success, Gene attributes it to “
Connecting the right people with the right people at the right time”.

Talk Show Host
As the creator and host of The Virtual Living Room Gene Gee has chatted with people from six different countries on three continents.  He has discussed issues of worldwide implications with internationally known radio talk show hosts, former Muslim terrorists, a Holocaust survivor, a Harvard PhD, a conspiracy theorist, musicians from local to internationally acclaimed and several pertinent experts and authors.

Gene Gee and his guests have addressed issues surrounding:
~  the Israel / Palestinian conflict
~  the adult / embryonic stem cell debate
~  the purported 'North American Union'
~  spousal abuse within the church
 ~  local food shelf drives
 ~  county wide hospice services
~  local and regional events and festivals

"Living room chat" is how Gene prefers to describe his program, citing that 'interview' is such a formal sounding word that tends to make people put their guard up in anticipation of an adversarial encounter on the radio.  "I prefer to sit down just like I was visiting with my guest in my living room over coffee or iced tea, and find out their story." He continues "If we find a 'rabbit trail' within the discussion that looks interesting, we'll go down that road a while and see where it leads".

His style seems to be working well as interview after inter... ummm chat after chat is followed up with a note of appreciation about how comfortable the guest felt, and how easy the interview was.  Even from other talk show hosts. Guest comments are listed on this page.
